    President

    Jennai Howe Bachus believes that the arts are one of the most important ways for communities and individuals to express, create and share. She grew up in Evergreen and is so excited that her experience as an Organizational Consultant and her love of the arts have come together in what she calls “one of the most rewarding roles” she has been privileged to enjoy. Jennai has served on the boards, and as an officer of multiple arts and education boards throughout the state of Colorado. Although she is not a performer, she is always happy to be an audience member and avid supporter of the arts.

    Since 1966 Kathleen has been fortunate to have the opportunity to work and play with countless talented, caring, and funny folks in this community who love theater. When not busy with parenting or a career as pianist and music educator, she has acted, directed, built sets, and swept floors. Currently Kathleen serves as Vice President of the Board of Directors.

    John and his wife Kathleen become a part of the Players family when they moved to Evergreen over 50 years ago. While they played many parts on stage together, it quickly became apparent that John's theater skills were strongest in other areas. Light and sound design, stage management and administrative duties make up the bulk of his activities with the Players. John has also served on the Board of Directors of both the national theater organization (AACT) and the state theater organization (CCTC).

    Scott has been an educator for over twenty years most of it as a theatre teacher. He is currently the teacher / director at Evergreen High School where he directs plays, musicals, improv teams and teaches classes. Scott is a founding member of EPiC, the Players improv comedy team, and directed them for the past decade and is still an EPiC player. He has also directed many shows for the Players over the years including, 39 Steps, The Complete Works of Shakespeare Abridged, The Big BM, and Leaving Iowa.

    Matt Bachus is a full-time real estate broker and managing partner at Tupper’s Team in Evergreen, CO, and is a part-time stage and television commercial actor, represented by Radical Artists Agency in Denver. Matt has served on the Jefferson County Cultural Council as part of the Denver metro area Scientific and Cultural Facilities district (SCFD) and has been a board member and officer for the Evergreen Players for more than a decade. Matt occasionally appears on stage with the Evergreen Players in plays and as a founding member of EPiC (Evergreen Players improv Comedy) and he holds a degree in Theatre and Communications from Principia College.

    Linda is hopeless as an actor but loves being a theater supporter. An avid theater-goer since grade school, she attends a wild number of stage performances each year. She taught English at the high school and college levels for 25 years. After earning a second master’s degree, she spent the next 25 years as a psychotherapist; many of her favorite patients were zesty folk from Colorado’s theater community. She and her husband Frank became fans of the Players soon after moving to the foothills in 1971, back when the Players were still performing in a log cabin. Linda is honored to serve on the Player’s board and on the board of Phamaly, the Denver-based theater company that casts only actors with disabilities.

    Larae Evans

    Board Member

    Larae Evans is a graphic designer and advertising art director who creates brands and advertising for clients both in Colorado and nationwide. Her work has been featured in multiple national design competitions throughout her career. She advises Evergreen Players on marketing, and has helped guide initiatives aimed at enhancing how the organization presents itself to the community at large. Larae enjoys live theatre (she married into a theatre family), and she feels Evergreen Players productions exemplify the highest standards of professional theatre in our mountain community. Larae also owns Marmalade Jewelry in downtown Evergreen.

    Tal Arnold: Tal has worked in Denver, Chicago and Los Angeles building a life in the Theatre. He studied Improv Comedy at iO Chicago, and the Comedy Clubhouse and has performed with, and directed numerous Improv troupes, he is the Associate Artistic Director of Visionbox Actors Studio and he was recently named the Education Director for Evergreen Players. Tal is at home performing on stage, and directing.

    Tara Emch is an indispensable reason for the Evergreen Players success. She has served in many roles but she is currently our General Manager. Tara has lived in Colorado for 16 years. She and her husband Kevin moved to Evergreen in 2006 from Greenwood Village, and they have 3 children and one precious new Grandson.

    Tara is a former Vice President/Branch Manager at the Cherry Creek Colorado State Bank and Trust and she has more than 25 years of business experience in management and sales

    When asked why Evergreen Players? Tara responded, "I went to see Hair one summer and a week later I was on the payroll. I loved everything about the organization. The people are great, the energy is so positive, and it is a wonderful way to bring our Evergreen community together. I knew I had to be part of it! And since I can't act, working behind the scenes was a perfect fit. I am thrilled to be part of the Evergreen Players family."

    Nicole Weary moved to Evergreen as a newlywed in 1999 and holds a bachelor’s degree in Public Relations from Northwest Missouri State University. In her free time, she enjoys volunteering throughout the community, hiking and watching her children perform on stage. Nicole lives in Evergreen with her husband, two teenagers and 3 dogs.

    Chapman Hyatt holds a BFA in acting from NYU Tisch School of the Arts. Chapman has worked on stage and screen in New York, Los Angeles, Albuquerque, Denver and Atlanta. Earliest credits include the supporting character Lyle Dwarkin in the Disney Channel Original Movie, Lemonade Mouth. Since then he’s worked with Ted Sluberski (Williamstown Theatre Festival, ABC Diversity Showcase), Daniel Talbott (Rising Phoenix Rep, Lucille Lortel Award Winning Theatre Director) and Larry Powell (Actor’s Theatre of Louisville).

    Krista Choate

    Krista Choate is a community leader who's strengths in Stage Management make us excited to have her teaching our Play Making Class. She is currently studying at the Metropolitan State University of Denver where she will be majoring in Theatre with a concentration in technical theatre and design, and minoring in business. Krista was accepted into the elite apprenticeship program of Stage Management at DCPA and brings extensive knowledge to our students. Some day we hope to see her stage managing for Cirque du Soleil or Broadway.

    Alex Weary

    Alex Weary is a graduate of Evergreen High School and is currently Loyola Marymount University where she is majoring in theatre arts. Since her classes are online this year she has been teaching and studying at Evergreen Players Studio. As a performer, hair and makeup artist, and leader she is serving as an instructor and consultant for our programs and summer camp planning.

    Caroline Vickstrom

    Caroline Vickstrom: Caroline Vickstrom graduated from the University of Colorado at Boulder with degrees in Choral Music Education and Voice Performance. Since then, she has directed choirs in public schools, taught voice privately, directed youth musical theatre productions, and taught abroad. Caroline sings with the St. Martin's Chamber Choir in Denver, with a small vocal jazz ensemble, and in local community theatre productions, along with being an avid pianist and guitarist.

    Biz Schaugaard was born and raised in Evergreen Colorado. She has been working in and around Evergreen Players for over 30 years. Biz enjoys building sets and organizes stuff at Evergreen Players, Stagedoor and Vintage Theatre. She loves to have people help build, paint, create and hold so show up and play with her.

    Leann grew up in Evergreen and moved to NYC to attend New York University where she received her BFA in Acting. She spent 8 years there working in theater and film before coming back to Colorado in 2015. She began teaching acting classes for the Players and then came on to run the education programs in 2016. Between directing youth shows, teaching classes and running after her son she loves to perform and has been in several Players shows.

    Caitlyn recently joined the Evergreen Players as the Marketing & PR Manager. She holds an MBA in Marketing from Loyola Marymount University and is certified in public relations, project management, and web development from UCSD. Caitlyn is working to grow the Evergreen Players’ overall marketing efforts, especially in the digital arena. When she’s not busy marketing, the Evergreen local enjoys hiking, snowboarding, water sports, and rescuing dogs.

    Charley Johnson currently resides in Des Moines practicing three of their passions: dancing, creating high end cocktails, and rock climbing. They enjoyed extensive training at the Laban Conservatoire of Music and Dance as well as receiving a B.A. in Dance and Anthropology at Franklin and Marshall College. Their work fluctuates from the political to the passionate to the mundanity of the corn fields. They seek to incorporate their own lived experience with the eyes of the reader to incite a unity in two people in a singular moment. Then, on to the next moment...

    Amanda has had a passion for educational theatre since a young age; the classes she’s participated in have had a formative impact on her journey as a theatre artist. She’s trained with Denver Center for the Performing Arts and performs with the Evergreen High School Theatre/Choir departments. Amanda is thrilled to apply these experiences in her work as an instructor with the Evergreen Players. She hopes to positively impact the next generation of young actors by providing a safe place to take risks, experiment, and improvise. Amanda is an intern with the Evergreen Players and an instructor for the Storybook Theatre class.

ABOUT US

The Evergreen Players began in 1950 as a group of friends gathering in each other’s homes to read plays aloud. Today it is a 501(c)3 nonprofit organization producing more than ten shows per year for the foothills community. Offerings range from classics to regional premieres, comedies to musicals to dramas. Annually the group involves professionals and amateur volunteers of all ages and walks of life, on stage and behind the scenes. The Evergreen Players’ mission is to create professional quality theater to inspire, engage, and entertain.
